As a result of recent boundary changes Calderwood is now an integral part of Ward 10 - East Kilbride East.

For the moment, however, the Community Council boundaries remain in place.

As such this is an area covering 2,200 acres - two-thirds of which is Rural - and extends from The Murray Roundabout in the South to the Kirkhill Golf Club in the North - a distance of about 3.4 miles.

The area boasts a number of listed buildings - Maxwellton Avenue Conservation Area has 11.

Others include: Hunter House + Long Calderwood Cottages + General's Bridge + Crossbasket and Gilbertfield Castle.

William and John Hunter are, arguably, the areas most famous sons. The area is well represented with regards to Schools and Places of Worship

There are also a number of well developed Leisure and Recreation areas / facilities, and two [private] Golf Clubs.

For some considerable time Calderwood has had a proactive Community Council.
